Career History

Steven D. Nelson, Executive Vice President of Healthcare, brings over 25 years of industry experience to Arch, with a focus for the past 20 years on medical malpractice for all segments of the healthcare delivery system. He joined Arch in 2002.

Mr. Nelson has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility in the Medical Services Division of The St. Paul Companies, including Vice President of Underwriting and Vice President of Field Operations. He has also worked as an Underwriting Officer in the Major Accounts Department at St. Paul, with responsibilities for the underwriting of large account risk transfer programs.

Prior to joining The St. Paul Companies, Mr. Nelson served as Vice President/Regional Manager for AIG/Lexington, and was responsible for opening up a medical malpractice underwriting office for Lexington in Minneapolis, with responsibilities for all aspects of healthcare underwriting in the Upper Midwest.
