Arch Capital Group Ltd.

For the quarter ended March 31, 2008, Arch Capital Group Ltd. reported net income of $189.4 million compared to $198.6 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2007. Gross and net premiums written for the 2008 first quarter were $1.05 billion and $1.21 billion, respectively, compared to $811.3 million and $871.7 million for the 2007 first quarter. Gross and net premiums were $4.14 billion and $2.9 billion, respectively, for the year ended December 31, 2007, compared to $4.28 billion and $3.02 billion for the 2006 period. ACGL's combined ratio was 86.2% for the 2008 first quarter, compared to 83.4% for the 2007 first quarter.

A.M. Best Co. has assigned a financial strength rating of "A (excellent)" to each of Arch Insurance Group's principal North American operating insurance subsidiaries: Arch Insurance Company, Arch Specialty Insurance Company and Arch Excess & Surplus Insurance Company.

Arch Insurance Company (a Missouri corporation, NAIC # 11150) had admitted assets of $1.5 billion, total liabilities of $975.3 million and surplus to policyholders of $549.4 million, as shown in the 2008 Statutory Quarterly Statement.

Arch Specialty Insurance Company (a Nebraska corporation, NAIC #21199) had admitted assets of $465.1 million, total liabilities of $175.9 million and surplus to policyholders of $289.3 million, as shown in the 2008 Statutory Quarterly Statement.

Arch Excess & Surplus Insurance Company (a Nebraska corporation, NAIC # 10946) had admitted assets of $29.0 million, total liabilities of $3.5 million and surplus to policyholders of $25.6 million, as shown in the 2008 Statutory Quarterly Statement.
